Band Bios: Cristina Harris
Cristina performed in a variety of musicals, operas, and plays throughout her childhood. Her passion for music strengthened as she reached adulthood. She attended Southern Connecticut State University to study music, in particular composition, jazz and classical piano, and voice. While attending the university Cristina had a short stint in the band The Battlecats where she played keyboard and sang background vocals. Her education continued upon entering a master?s program at the University of Portland in Oregon where she studied composition. Frustrated with the conservative environment she became very interested in performance artists such as Meredith Monk and Laurie Anderson. She ended her studies to pursue her passion of songwriting and performance.
Cristina telephoned her uncle, musician Stephen Harris, and asked him to share his experience and expertise in the music field. After listening to her songs, he encouraged her to continue to compose her music whereby the current songwriter and producer relationship began. This relationship resulted in the recording of her demo CD.
Back in Connecticut, Cristina has been performing in the area as both the main draw and as an opening act for various touring performers. She has continued to write new material which delves into the realms of her visionary songwriting. She opened up for the Marshall Tucker Band in Red Bank, New Jersey and astonished the crowd.
